S. Beatrice Foreman

S. Beatrice Foreman grew up in North Carolina. Her family left North Carolina for Stamford when Beatrice was only eleven. She graduated from Stamford high in 1934 and studied home economics at Hampton Institute in Virginia. She taught home economics various Stamford Schools. She later received her master’s degree from Western Reserve University.
S. Beatrice Foreman was the first African American woman to win the Stamford Citizen of the Year award. She served on many boards in Stamford. She was the chairman of the Heart Fund for 10 years, the president of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, a volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood mobile for more than 14 years. She was the first African American person on many committees in Stamford ranging from the Stamford Hospital Board of Trustees to the Interfaith Council of Stamford.
