She ran for mayor in 1981 and was a longtime member of the city’s Democratic party.

Lynn Laitman served the community as a civic leader through her work on various boards and committees in an effort to improve the quality of life in Stamford. She served on the Board of Representatives for two terms in the 1970s, the Board of Finance and on the Connecticut 2000 Commission, which looked for ways to improve the county problems with affordable housing as the century closed, and she was an advocate for the desegregation of the Stamford Public Schools.
