Lillian Moran

1976

Lillian Moran was the community relations director for Bloomingdale’s department store in Stamford. She was known as the “dean of Bloomingdale’s University” for attracting personalities to appear at the store. They included Carlton Fredericks, James Beard, Julia Child, Pete Hammill, Chuck Scarborough, Betty Friedan and Erma Bombeck. She worked for Bloomingdale’s for 28 years. She was president of the Family and Children’s Services, a board member of the Yerwood Center, the Hartman Theater Company, the Stamford Chapter of the American Red Cross, and the American Cancer Society.

 


Lillian Moran was named Citizen of the Year for her work with various interest groups in Stamford (Indian and Chinese) and her work with agencies—the Family and Children’s Services from 1970-1979, the Yerwood Center, the Red Cross and the American Cancer Society. She organized the first fundraising benefit for the Family and Children’s Services in 1974.
