Gertrude Pat Marshall

Gertrude “Pat” Marshall won the award for her work pioneering affordable housing in Stamford and improving housing throughout the city. She served as board member, president and CEO of New Neighborhood Inc., a non-profit created in 1967, she led NNI from 1969 to 1983. She was the first woman appointed to the Urban Redevelopment Committee and was its chairwoman 1960-64) and was driving force behind the creation of a vibrant downtown. She was also the first woman to be president of the United Fund.
