U.S. Coast Guard
As a retired Rear Admiral (equivalent to a two-star General), Fred Golove could conceivably be the highest ranking Veteran currently residing in Stamford. Fred received appointments to West Point and to the Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT which he attended, earning a BS degree in Marine and Mechanical Engineering. Fred served in the Coast Guard for 35 years, holding a record nine separate commands. He worked directly with the current and previous five Commandants, holding many significant operational and strategic planning positions during his service.
After leaving active duty, Fred joined IBM Corp. where he enjoyed a highly successful career in Systems Engineering, Sales, and Marketing. Fred served as President of Temple Beth El, and of the Jewish Historical Society of Lower Fairfield County, and was a Vice President of the Stamford Jewish Community Center.
