John Rubino
U.S. Marine Corps
2007
The expression goes “Once a Marine – Always a Marine” and that certainly applies to John Rubino, a man who didn’t turn his back on his fellow Leathernecks once he hung up his uniform. As a member of the Marine Corps League’s Lock City Detachment, John is Co-Chair of the “Assistance Fund” which has raised and donated over $30,000 to wounded Marines and their families across the State of Connecticut. His organization also donates funds to many other programs such as “Operation Gift Card” and the “Fisher House” which provides lodging to families of wounded marines being treated at the National Naval Medical Center. John also spearheads the “Care Package” program out of his home where he has shipped literally hundreds of packages to Marines serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
A Stamford native, John is a graduate of Rippowam H.S. and earned his BFA degree from Central Connecticut State University upon his return from service with the 2nd Marine Division.
John Rubino is Director of Package Design for Combe Inc. in White Plains. He and his wife Krista live in Springdale with their two sons.
