Senator Carlo Leone

2013

Carlo, who has lived in Stamford for more than 20 years, is a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran, having served on active duty from 1981 to 1987 in the U.S. and European Theater. His service included worldwide duty at Tactical Fighter and Strategic Bomber Wings, serving stateside at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas and at Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, South Dakota. His overseas duty was with Western NATO forces in Spain, Italy and Turkey. Over his years in the Air Force, Carlo supported, serviced maintained, and troubleshot ground equipment for a wide range of aircraft, including the F-15, F-16, F-4, A-10, T-38, USAF Thunderbirds Las Vegas, B-1, B-1B, B-52, C-135, C-140 and C-5 Aircraft.

Upon leaving the Air Force, Carlo worked for Xerox Corporation in various capacities, rising through the organi- zation, serving in financial planning, analysis and control for operations. Over the past 11 years, Carlo has served as state representative for Stamford District 148, and currently serves as state senator for District 27 for Stamford and Darien. Carlo has been involved in passing key legislation and has been an active proponent of legislation supporting veterans, including the successful passage of a bill regarding free tuition for surviving members of vet- erans killed in action. Additionally, Carlo is the veterans program manager of The Workplace, a nonprofit dedicated to educating today’s workforce, and is operating a Supportive Services for Veteran Family program to assist and prevent veteran homelessness.

Carlo, who earned both his bachelor’s degree and MBA from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, is a member of the Figli di Rose Italian Club in Springdale. He, his wife Karen and son Sam live in the Cove section of Stamford
